The goal of BARD is to advance the research field of databases (DB) with new theoretical, technical and practical contributions that build on Artificial Intelligence (AI). Our specific approach is to extend data management systems by empowering them with both symbolic IA (automated reasoning, inductive logic programming, and knowledge representation) and numerical AI (deep learning, graph neural networks, and LLMs).

We are tackling three research lines for cross-fertilization between Databases and AI:

• Databases and Knowledge Representation & Reasoning
• Databases and Machine Learning
• Databases and Intelligent Interaction

The BARD team is a follow-up of both the DRUID and SHAMAN teams.
